The Association of Learned Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) was founded in 1972. Today it is not only the sole international trade association representing all types of non-profit publishers, but also the world’s largest trade association for scholarly and professional publishers. It has more than 360 members in nearly 40 countries, publishing over 10,000 journals – approximately half of the world’s output. ALPSP monitors national and international issues and represents the interests of members to the wider world. ALPSP carries out research, issues occasional position papers and guidelines for good practice. ALPSP also publishes a quarterly journal, Learned Publishing and an electronic newsletter, ALPSP Alert.
